My mom grew up on a dairy farm in southern Wisconsin that my uncle still owns. I spent a lot of time there is the summers and have many fond memories, including many encounters with the cows out in the pastures and fields, usually all playing follow the leader just like in this print.

You gotta love the resilience of Whitetail Deer Bucks that shed and grow a new set of antlers every year. The shear amount of nutrients it takes to do that and pack on a bunch of weight every year for the rut is outrageous. On top of that it is extra impressive when they manage to elude getting put in the freezer for enough years to develop a big ole rack. So, I tip my hat to you Uncle Buck.

Red Tailed Hawks are awesome. So here is another tribute to them. It is one of the most successful hawks in the world, adapting itself to many different environments, even major metropolitan areas. The title of this print “Stephen” is also a tribute to the late great Stephen HAWKing

Something commonly misunderstood, is the difference between reindeer and caribou. Barring that one sells coffee and the other drags Santa around, there is none. It's the same animal with a different name.

Generally the North American nomenclature being caribou and reindeer being it's Eurasian counterpart. The term reindeer also being commonly used for domesticated herds.

Aesop’s Fables had over 700 tales of morality, but most widely known is that of “The Tortoise and The Hare.'' After 2000some years grains of wisdom may still be gleaned from the stories.

This print is a representation and reminder of the Hare, whose overconfidence and carelessness loses him the big race. It serves me as a reminder, that not everything needs to be done at breakneck speed, otherwise you’ll lose sight of your long term goals. Our lives are too short to miss it by being in a hurry!

This print was carved from a slice of birch, which itself added a lot of character and unique mark-making in the print.
